During our Lapland trip, one of the most unique places we stayed was Tyven Resort — a hidden Arctic escape set on its own frozen lake.

We were lucky enough to collaborate with Tyven for our stay, and from the moment we arrived it felt completely different to anywhere else we had experienced in Lapland.

Quiet, remote and surrounded by snow-covered forest, it’s the kind of place where you instantly switch off and slow down.

Staying in Our Own Lodge by the Frozen Lake

Our lodge overlooked the frozen lake, with nothing but snow, trees and complete silence around us.

Inside, the lodge felt warm and cosy with a beautiful Scandinavian style design. But the highlight had to be the private outdoor jacuzzi.

Sitting in a hot jacuzzi while surrounded by Arctic snow is something everyone should experience at least once. As the sun sets over the frozen lake and the sky turns pink and blue, it feels surreal.

It’s one of those moments that makes you realise just how special Lapland really is.

The True Finnish Sauna Experience

No trip to Finland would be complete without experiencing a traditional sauna, and Tyven does this perfectly.

After heating up in the sauna, we tried something that felt both terrifying and amazing at the same time — the Avanto.

The avanto is a hole cut into the frozen lake where you plunge into the icy water after the sauna. It’s freezing, intense and strangely refreshing all at once.

It’s a proper Finnish tradition and something we’re so glad we tried.

Ice Fishing on the Frozen Lake

Another experience we loved was ice fishing right on the lake in front of the resort.

With the snow stretching out around us and nothing but peaceful Arctic silence, it felt like a completely different pace of life.

Even if you’ve never tried it before, it’s surprisingly relaxing — drilling the hole through the ice, dropping the line and just enjoying the moment.

Lapland has this incredible way of making simple experiences feel magical.

Feeding the Reindeer

One of the highlights of our stay was getting to feed the reindeer at the resort.

Seeing them up close and interacting with them was such a special experience, and it added to that authentic Lapland feeling.

They’re incredibly calm animals and being able to stand in the snow feeding them while they wander around was something we’ll never forget.

A Hidden Gem in Lapland

Tyven Resort felt like a true Arctic retreat.

Between the private lodge, jacuzzi overlooking the frozen lake, traditional sauna and avanto experience, ice fishing, and feeding the reindeer, it offered a side of Lapland that felt peaceful, authentic and unforgettable.

If you’re looking for somewhere more secluded and unique during a Lapland trip, Tyven is definitely one to add to your list.

For us, it was one of the most memorable stays of the entire trip.
