There are birthdays… and then there are Lapland birthdays.

For Lauren’s 30th, we wanted to do something truly unforgettable. Somewhere magical, somewhere unique, and somewhere that felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

That’s exactly how we ended up at SkyView Igloos in Finnish Lapland — and honestly, it exceeded every expectation we had.

A Birthday Surprise Waiting for Us

When we arrived at our igloo, the first thing we noticed was how beautifully it had been prepared for Lauren’s birthday.

Inside, the igloo had been decorated with “30” birthday balloons, and waiting on the table was a beautiful box of chocolates – such a thoughtful touch that instantly made the stay feel even more special.

It’s small details like this that turn a great stay into a memorable experience, and it meant a lot that they had taken the time to celebrate the occasion with us.

A Two-Floor Glass Igloo in the Arctic

Our igloo was something else entirely.

Spread across two floors, it felt spacious, modern and incredibly cosy despite being surrounded by snow outside.

Upstairs was the sleeping area beneath the glass roof, meaning you can lie in bed and look straight up at the Arctic sky. It’s designed perfectly for watching the Northern Lights, but even when the sky is clear it feels surreal just staring out across the snowy landscape.

Downstairs had a stylish living space and bathroom, all designed with that clean Scandinavian feel — minimal but warm.

Everything about it felt luxury but still connected to nature, which is exactly what you want when staying somewhere like this.

Waking Up in the Arctic

One of the best moments of the whole trip was waking up in the morning.

Snow everywhere, the quietness of Lapland, and the soft light coming through the glass roof above the bed.

It’s the kind of place where you slow down without even trying.

No noise.
No rush.
Just the peaceful stillness of the Arctic.

A Birthday We’ll Never Forget

Celebrating Lauren’s 30th birthday here made it even more special. Between the decorations, the stunning igloo itself and the incredible Lapland surroundings, it felt like the perfect place to mark such a big milestone.
